An amazing hands-on learning experience, bringing nature, science and sustainability to life in the most exciting way 🌼

Our children learnt all about the different parts of the fire engine, how the equipment works, and the important role firefighters play in keeping us safe. They asked brilliant questions to find out more information, explored the fire engine and tried on some of the kit, they even had the chance to spray the hose themselves! 💦🔥

This hands-on learning opportunity was not only fun but also an essential way to help our children understand the people who help us and how to stay safe in emergencies. Thank you to our local fire and rescue team for such a memorable morning! 🙌👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

The children enjoyed a sensory-rich invitation to pour, mix and stir using 'herbs' they collected from our garden. Not only was this a calming, nature-based activity, but it also gave them opportunities to practise key skills like tipping, pouring and using tools - all supporting fine motor development and early coordination.

The bluebells have arrived and are in full bloom at our woods, it’s simply too beautiful not to share!
The children have been lucky enough to watch them grow and blossom over the past few weeks - this is truly one of our favourite seasons.

Trips to our outdoor art atelier mean just one thing... getting creative and gloriously messy! 🎨 The children explored paint in the most hands-on way — using their hands, feet and a variety of tools to create beautiful, vibrant patterns. From stomping to splatting to swirling, they mixed colours, experimented with textures and most importantly, had an unforgettable time!

🌻 Today is World Down Syndrome Day and, just like every year, we’ve been busy planting sunflowers across the nursery to honour the occasion. It’s a beautiful tradition that not only raises awareness but also celebrates the uniqueness and individuality of every child. 🌼

Just like sunflowers, every child grows and blooms in their own special way ✨

Our children also came in wearing odd socks to take part in ‘Rock Your Socks’ - a colourful way to celebrate the uniqueness of every chromosome. 🧦

Why March 21st? This date was chosen to represent the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome — the cause of Down syndrome. A small detail, with a big meaning 💙💛

We can’t wait to share photos of our beautiful sunflowers once they bloom in a few months… stay tuned! 🌻

As part of our eco project, we joined hundreds of schools and nurseries in planting new trees and hedgerows by applying to the Woodland Trust last summer.

This wonderful scheme encourages children to connect with nature, learn about trees, and understand their vital role in our environment. Through this, they develop a sense of sustainability, responsibility, patience, and well-being - all while having great fun in the woods planting trees!

It also continues the legacy of the late Queen, who inspired the nation to plant a green canopy - an initiative that has already seen over three million trees planted. The Woodland Trust aims to plant millions more to help achieve its goal of carbon net zero by 2050.

In November, we received a very special delivery of 150 saplings of working woodland trees, including field maple, willow, silver birch, and English oak - species that can be used in the future for forest school activities such as carving, weaving, and climbing. Alongside this, we also received a hedgerow pack to encourage a diverse range of wildlife.

We are thrilled to share that yesterday, our first working party ventured into the woods, spades in hand, to begin planting. This exciting project will continue throughout the week, with all the children taking part - because from every little acorn, a mighty oak will grow!
